Indian Collections

 

The Diné College Libraries maintain a non-circulating collection of research materials relating to Diné and Indigenous studies. Many of these items can also be found in the regular circulating collections, however, due to popular demand, the libraries keep reference copies for use in-house. 

 

Moses-Donner Indian Materials Collection

The Moses-Donner Indian Materials Collection is located at the Kinyaa’áanii Library on the Tsaile Campus. This collection contains materials relating to Diné and Indigenous studies. It consists of the original collection donated by Mrs. Lucy Moses and the Donner, Weatherhead, and Petty-John Foundations, as well as more recent materials that have been added to form a non-circulating reference collection that is always available.. 

 

Shiprock Native American Collection

The Senator John Pinto Library in Shiprock maintains a circulating and non-circulating collection of books and materials relating to Native American studies. 

 

David M. Brügge Collection (In Development)

This collection consists of the books of Dr. David M. Brűgge, a respected Navajo Studies and Southwestern scholar.  They are not yet available for use as they have not been cataloged.

 

Mary Shepardson Collection

The books of Mary Shepardson, a prominent Navajo Studies scholar, are available at our Crownpoint Center.  All the books have been cataloged.  Their use inside the library is permitted, but they cannot be checked out.
