Dr. Christine Ami is an Associate Professor at Diné College and a recent National Endowment for the Humanities Fellow. Her dissertation, Dííjí Nída'iil'ah (Today, We Butcher) : A Study of Navajo Traditional Sheep Butchering, is the focus of her upcoming book. Dr. Ami is a frequent collaborator with the library; her partnership has led to several programming and education outreach initiatives such as workshops with the Navajo Cultural Arts Program, Indigenous documentaries screening with the Native American Studies Minor, as well as a lecture series When We Read What They Wrote: Dissertations on Indigenous Peoples Analyzed by Indigenous Peoples. Dr. Ami documents her fellowship journey and as well as her academic work, curriculum development, and entrepreneurship on her website, which can be accessed here.
Dr. Ami's dissertation, which references many of the resources at the Kinyaa'áanii Library, is available for check-out at the library.
